Never rated a hardware store I am more of a hotel/ restaurant kind of person.
I do not suggest anyone to visit this store. I don't know about other ace hardwares but "Pepe's Ace Hardware" just won the prize for worst customer service ever. The store has a cheap dollar store feel. You give them your concern and they dont inquire about it more. Once they have the idea that some thing is what you need, they stick by it and pressure you into buying that product. Even other customers in the store try to convince you to buy it. You can tell that they don't really care about anything, just the sale. It puts you in an awkward position. Don't even try questioning them. And it got worse when I had to check out. They have some attitude problem. Didn't even hand me back my card. Just threw it on the counter and when getting the receipt didn't even make eye contact. Was busy with someone else. Didn't even say thank you or come back again. This shouldn't happen at this kind of store, it wouldn't bother me at a fast food restaurant. If you are an outsider, beware. I am local and I couldn't even stand their loud-mouth talking and their sales tactics.
I was looking for a special rope and chain for my boat and other accessories and checked to see if they had it. It was a real hassle but after hours of searching, someone was able to locate it for me. Good thing I brought pictures of what I needed otherwise they would never find it. Good news is at least I found what I was looking for!
Piece of crap place. Got there 30 mins before closing. Asked him if they had a bolt in stock told me I can check tomorrow.

What I can say is costumer service is not their concern. I can say if you know what you need ask and they will get it if they know what your talking about. I been going here for the past year like all small chains, (compare to home deport) their price are high. The good news if your in a rush they almost got everything you would need.
3. When I asked out the return policy, I was told "don't buy it. I'd rather not sell it to you."
4. When I asked for something else that was sealed, manager ignored me and walked away.
